Challah Bread
Ingredients
4 to 4 and 1/4 c AP flour
3/4 c water (lukewarm)
6 T vegetable oil
3 T honey
2 large eggs
1 large egg yolk
1 1/2 t salt
4 t instant yeast
1 egg (for topping)
poppy seeds (for topping)
Directions

Sift 4 cups of flour into a large bowl.

Add the rest of the ingredients.

Knead until you have a soft smooth dough (if too sticky, add a little flour).

Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise for 2 hours (will not double).

Gently transfer to a lightly greased work surface.

Divide dough into 3 pieces.

Roll into ropes about 20 inches long.

Braid the loaf on parchment paper.

Gently lift ad place on a baking sheet.

Lightly cover with greased plastic wrap and let rise for 60-90 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375.

Beat egg with a little water and brush bread.

Place poppy seeds on top.

Bake for 25-30 minutes (deep golden brown).
